So, here's the start of an ambitious project: draw at least four maps showing sections of some elemental planes I made up. As you may assume, this is the central section of the Plane of Earth. I'm already working on the Plane of Water.
I'm kinda working on the story behind these planes, but my general idea is that they are a lost collection of odd landscapes floating through some nether / spirit / whatever realm. Of course, my OC's Jay and Sandro find their way there, and take up residence for awhile. Jay frequents the Plane of Earth, as it is the element he is tied most closely to and has a large population.
When Jay arrives, the Earth Plane is being troubled by three dragons (each one living on one of the Serpent Isles). Jumping into action, Jay kills two of them before the third flees northward, to the wild lands. He then starts a city on Greenspire Isle, which is more or less in the center of the Plane. The city holds a vast population, and many other towns and farms dot the land around Greenspire. There is a huge estate and gardens in the city set aside for Jay, but he is usually out traveling the various Elemental worlds.
Locations of Note: -Greenspire: This refers to the island in the center of the map, the mountain crowning the island, and the city on its slopes. It is the center of the realm and holds the largest city on the Plane of Earth, filled with peoples of all races. Steep slopes and thick forests block most travel, limiting roads to a few trails.
-The Corridor: This stretch of cliff-edged, jungle-filled land holds the major road for traveling around the north side of Greenspire. The road is well kept, but caravans must be well equipped due to the number of aggressive wild beasts here.
-Isles of the Serpents: Once the home of the three great dragons which troubled the land. Though most people avoid them, they are beautiful jewels on the warm seas, with white sand beaches and tropical trees. Some adventurers like to come here to search for the dragons' treasure. The great horn of stone on the leftmost island was formed by Jay during his battle with the dragon living there.
-The Heartfields: Fertile rolling plains home to many towns and farmsteads. Being so close to Greenspire, the fields are well-protected, well-traveled, and prosperous.
-Moonglow Forest: A famous, sprawling and hilly forest filled with many strange plants. When the sun sets, many of the plants, and even the ground itself, will glow with soft blue light. It's a very magical site, and a favorite landscape of artists, poets, and young couples.
-Gaia's Maw (off the map): An immense bowl-shaped hole in the ground, seemingly scooped out by a giant hand. Its edge is riddled with caverns full of grottos and precious gems, but the creatures living there guard them fiercely. Only Jay can pass through safely, and he has a small house in the center of the "maw".
-Howling Trench (off the map): A canyon stripped clean of plants by the immense wind which blows through it. Nothing can get through, and no one knows whether the wind is because of some freak of air currents or a curse.
It's Built on the slopes. Think more "Minas Tirith" rather than "Lonely Mountain". There might be a few creatures who are natural cave dwellers and have carved one or two streets in the lower sections, but everything else is above ground.
