Description

The last map in my Elemental Realms series. I thought of doing the legendary sixth realm of energy, but decided not to. Hope you enjoyed the series. Check out the rest in my gallery, if you haven't seen them. They're my finest works to date.

(edit: I've now made it so you guys can zoom in ridiculously close. Do you find it better or more annoying that way?)

History of the Plane of Fire
The Plane of Fire is chaotic, wild, and full of riches and energy. An advanced society of humans once made their home here, but they are long gone, leaving behind advanced ruins and technology which is utilized by the modern citizens. The Plane of Fire is a hollow planet with enormous rifts criss-crossing the surface. At the center is a sort of miniature sun, a concentration of energy powerful enough to blow up the entire Plane. Thankfully, it's stable.

Unfortunately, society isn't nearly as stable as the core. Humans are a minority here, though they do have the most advanced technology out of all the Realms. Due to dangerous the dangerous work, landscape, and fauna, most people stay away. This has made the Plane of Fire a hotspot (no pun intended) for criminals and less-savory characters, as they are unlikely to be pursued. Prisoners and exiles are brought here as well, expected to die. All in all, it's not a great place to live, inside the cities or out of em'.

locations of note
-Coal Town: One of the larger communities in the Plane of Fire, Coal Town was built around advanced refineries built by the last civilization. A city of ramshackle tenements, factories, and markets grew around the refinery complex, becoming the industrious (and unpleasant) city that it is today. The air is kept clean by an advanced vent system which sucks down the dust and smog from the factories, but the city itself is still made dirty and ruinous by its own people.

-Steamleaf Jungle: A wide Jungle, most of which is sandwiched in between two rifts on the planet's surface. Only the east section is visible on this map. It contains many ruins from the last civilization, most of which are kept in good condition by the lack of interference from people and creatures. The jungle is pretty dangerous, so not many people go through it.

-Creakwind: An enormous old facility which is said to be haunted. The winds blow through the valley it sits in at the foot of the mountains, making eerie noises. No one knows what is inside, and few are bold enough to try finding out.

-The Reachers: The reachers are what you'd call "cranes", but the language of the people of the Plane of Fire calls them "reachers", so you can stuff it. Anyway, the reachers lower people and equipment down the side of one of the rifts, allowing them to tunnel straight into previously inaccessible veins of rich ore. Dangerous, but extremely lucrative.

-Darkmetal: Another "haunted" ancient facility, except unlike Creakwind, Darkmetal is in perfect condition. It's guarded by the still-operational defense droids, which pack a lot of firepower. Other things are said to lurk within too, even more terrible than the droids.

-The Vents / Temperate Plains: These enormous vents push cool air into the surrounding area, blowing north especially. This created a temperate plain to the north, which is used for agriculture and is one of the safer areas in the Plane of Fire.

-Scorched Swamp: A swamp with flammable peat and pools of oil, where fires spring up from time to time. It's a miserable place. (inspired by the Fire Swamp in Princess Bride).

Really nice map!
What's that half-building on the left side of the map in the Steamleaf Jungle?
